Brief Bio
An entertainment industry veteran, Libby Gill spent fifteen years heading public relations and corporate communications at Universal Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Turner Broadcasting. She was also the branding brain behind the launch of the Dr. Phil Show.
Libby is now an internationally respected executive coach, speaker and bestselling author. She has shared her success strategies on the Today Show, The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, CNN, NPR, Oprah & Friends Radio Network, Fox News, CBS Early Show, and in Time Magazine, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, O Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Self and many more.
Libby's Story
Libby has worked as a tap dancing bear, a hand model, a talking Christmas tree, a waitress on the Queen Mary (non-ocean going), a college instructor, a soap opera actress and a Hollywood studio executive. Her diverse (okay, weird) background has made her a highly specialized generalist in peak performance and brand excellence.
As a corporate entertainment veteran, Libby held senior management positions in public relations and communications at Sony, Universal and Turner Broadcasting, as well as being the branding brain behind the launch of the Dr. Phil Show. During her 15-year Hollywood tenure, she survived more than a dozen management restructures, transitions and takeovers. Despite the shifting sands of studio life, with each change Libby was able to help position her organization for greater success. At the same time, she rose rapidly up the corporate ladder, moving from office temp to C-suite in just five years.
Libby is now an internationally respected business coach, brand strategist and bestselling author. With her proven “Clarify, Simplify & Execute” process, Libby guides executives and entrepreneurs - from entry-level to senior management - to learn the lessons of change so they can not only survive but thrive in difficult times. Among her achievements, Libby is most proud of having guided many executives and entrepreneurs to career success. Her former staff members now hold senior management positions at CBS Entertainment, ESPN, Universal, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Sony, Disney/ABC and many other organizations. Her coaching clients have also achieved great success in transitioning from one industry to another, climbing the corporate ladder and launching entrepreneurial ventures.
In November 2000, Libby left the corporate world to found Libby Gill & Company. As she was reinventing her professional life, Libby’s personal life also underwent a major transition. She chronicled her journey of overcoming a family legacy of alcoholism, divorce and mental illness in her bestselling book TRAVELING HOPEFULLY: How to Lose Your Baggage and Jumpstart Your Life (St. Martin’s Press). Her third book, YOU UNSTUCK: Mastering the New Rules of Risk-taking in Work & Life, will be published in September ’09.

Libby, who is the mother of two teen-aged sons, lives in Los Angeles, California. She can sometimes be found chaperoning high school debate competitions or working backstage in the middle school drama department.
